About Me

Julie Atthowe.jpeg

Hi, I’m Julie Atthowe. I have been teaching Fitness and Weight management classes since 2009, having been employed by my good friend Sarah Skelton.

How did all this come about? At the time I was attending classes run by Sarah Skelton. I was struggling with the weight loss but I loved classes and the exercise. So, I called Sarah to explain and asked that I just came along for the aerobics element of the class. Of course, she said yes, we had a little chat and completely out of the blue Sarah suggested I become a fitness instructor!

To say that left me gobsmacked is a complete and utter understatement!! I was totally shocked but, at the same time, overwhelmed that Sarah had such faith in me.

So, I went on to register for the course and started studying from home. After a couple of training days and more study, I’m pleased to say I passed the course.

Working along side my other jobs, I have very happily worked with Sarah for over 10 years. There’s been highs, lows, laughter, tears and many friendships. For me, the friendships made and the community of the classes is what makes Activ4life unique.

We’ve held many events from theatre trips, afternoon tea, boat trips - there are too many to mention but a good time, fun and laughter were certainly enjoyed by all!

For me, I enjoy all aspects of fitness from aerobics to Bootcamp. In the past, I have taken part in Steeplechase, Suffolk Whole Hog, Night Run, Nuclear Races, Tough Mudder and other various obstacle courses. Some would consider me slightly mad, but I enjoy it! Don’t get me wrong they are far from easy and very challenging at times. Being electrocuted was very painful! I’ve had complete strangers pull me up from a mud pit because I was stuck! But that is the spirit of such races, everyone competes together and help each other out the whole way round the course. Don’t worry you will not be expected to take part in any obstacle courses!!

Anyway, that is enough about me, what can you expect to find at class? At classes, I will strive to help you maintain a healthy balance between your workout goals and your life. That is why I have a great selection of different fitness options for you. From a good old fashioned cardio workout to Latin fitness and more, I give you all the choices you could possibly need.

My classes are designed for everyone from the inactive to the very active, you can make each workout suit you and we cater for age groups 18+. My classes come with a weight management option, so if you are looking to lose weight or simply maintain your weight I can monitor your progress each week with a one to one weigh-in and provide nutritional advice that suits your lifestyle. For many weight management may not always be related to wanting to lose weight which is fine too, understanding your body is an important factor which is why our classes really do work. Your workout, your choice!

With my love of exercising outdoors, I decided to open a Bootcamp for our members. It has successfully run for 2 years now and have regular members that come along each week come rain or shine. It is very pleasing to see people attend week in, week out and watch their confidence grow. We recently did a skipping challenge. At the beginning we were a little out of practice but as the weeks went on everyone improved and were able to skip a little longer each week.

I would love to see you at one of my classes, so whether it's weight management, your workout, how to be healthy or all three then I have something just for you. If you would like a chat first then please feel free to contact me on 07815518000 or by email - julie.activ4life@gmail.com. To keep up to date with everything why not sign up to our mailing list.
